Abstract

This work is a study of existing and proposed approaches to improve the effective resolution of the thermal band of a multispectral image. Frequency domain filtering, magnitude and phase merging, and adaptive least squares approaches were implemented. Those techniques that utilized the inherent correlation between bands appeared to show the most promise. A two step procedure combining the point-by-point merging technique with a regional replacement filter generated the best results.
