Abstract
From March 19 to July 27, 2025, La Cinématheque Française hosted Wes Anderson: The Exhibition. Wes Anderson is an American filmmaker known for directing films such as Rushmore, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The Grand Budapest Hotel. A distinct style and an ensemble cast characterize his films. Wes Anderson: The Exhibition allowed visitors to experience and learn about a modern American auteur in a new and intimate way. It boasted an impressive collection of costumes used in films, story panels, photographs, props, clips from the films, clay figures, etc. Though the collection by itself was impressive, the exhibition space was carefully crafted to complement the aesthetics and auteurship of Wes Anderson. This exhibition showcases the power of how exhibition spaces and objects can be used to interpret artists, and in this case, filmmakers’ unique styles, to provide a dynamic experience in a museum setting.
