Summary

In this episode, Eugene Fram, professor emeritus of marketing in RIT’s E. Philip Saunders College of Business, discusses the state of the economy and retailing with Marcia Morphy and Studio 86 host Mike Saffran. Fram compares the local economy of Rochester with that in the Silicon Valley area of California (where Fram currently resides) and the current global recession with the Great Depression of the 1930s. He discusses changes in consumer attitudes as a result of the economic downturn and the responses from restauranteurs and retailers. Finally, he lightheartedly describes “Wegmans withdrawal”—how much he misses the Rochester-based grocery chain. Read more of Fram’s thoughts at http://www.rit.edu/news/?v=46603
