Abstract
Description of the creation of a computer-animated film, "Upgrade," a project whose goal was to create a visually acceptable story that was enjoyable and coherent, without the benefit of substantive collaborators. The film depicts a young man's relationship with his new computer, as the (anthropomorphized) operating system loses her initial attractiveness and becomes bloated, slow, jealous and vengeful. Includes thesis proposal, revised script, original story boards, color stills, and code for generating facial expressions.
