Abstract
A study was initiated which was designed to examine the systems used for ink smoothing in a web-offset printing press. The study evaluated several oscillating roller systems and subjectively compared them using several criteria. It was found that although some of the systems possessed a number of desirable characteristics, none were of high enough overall quality to be considered for implementation.
