Abstract
In the current industrial and economic environment, research and development funds are very limited. There is strong motivation from management to build upon existing hardware and software whenever possible. The premise is that time-tomarket will be reduced and more utility can be gleaned from previously spent development moneys. This paper is the combination of a case study of the reengineering of an existing product and the design and implementation of the next step in the process, whereby parts count is reduced to cut costs and increase reliability.
