Julie Gelfand

Abstract

The intent of this thesis is to photograph individuals in Rochester, New York devoted to improving the quality of their lives and the lives of others. In these photographs, I will attempt to combine both aesthetic and social concerns while investigating methods of self-expression through the documentary form.
