Abstract
The artist describes his thesis work, which consists of 9 oil paintings. A windmill structure is a central theme running throughout the works. The artist explains his reasons for choosing this theme and how it unifies the thesis paintings. The idea sprang from the artist's consideration of an old windmill; a functional item without function. Thus, the windmill became a central symbolic figure in the paintings.
