Abstract

Through the construction of a city-level digital twin (CDT) prototype that integrates data, models, and insights from many disciplines and sectors of the UAE, the project investigates the potential benefits of dynamic knowledge graph and data-driven models to design national level digital twin. Three work packages are included in the study: Developing a digital twin ontological depiction for simulating national digital twin for UAE and testing Digital scenarios, engaging with local authorities like ADDA and Digital Dubai, modelling experts, and other key stakeholders to collect feedback on the application and future development of DT; and developing a digital twin prototype for simulating journeys to work and testing Digital scenarios. For the co-development of the digital twin prototype, a constructive collaboration will be developed between the local authorities and the project team. The initiative also works together with researchers from Rochester Institute of Technology and the Digital Twin Hub, which was established by The Centre for Digital Built Britain (CDBB) as part of the UK government- mandated National Digital Twin program (NDTp). The key research findings are examined in depth, and a set of working propositions are suggested to guide future research and explain the path mapping of digital twin initiatives for UAE cities.
