Abstract

This chapter covers how a densitometer works. It also covers density-de-rived values and densitometry applications, including pressrun analysis. After reading this chapter, one should know that a densitometer measures light absorption due to the presence of colorants, such as ink and toner. Being sensitive to differences in dark shades, a densitometer is good at measuring colorant amounts, which makes it an ideal tool for printing-process control.
