Please note that this is a sample of the submission instructions and submission agreement that are used when submitting to RIT Scholar Works, intended to provide a preview of this language before beginning the submission process.
Follow the instructions below to submit to RIT Scholar Works. You will be notified shortly regarding the suitability of your submission for the series/journal.
Before submitting, please read all relevant policies and/or submission guidelines.
The submission process consists of the following steps:
- Read and accept the Submission Agreement below
- Provide information about yourself and any co-authors
- Upload your electronic file, if any, and associated files
Before you begin, please be sure you have the following items:
- The submission's title
- The abstract (up to 250 words)
- A list of keywords (10 maximum)
- The electronic format of your file, or hyperlink to your file, if any
RIT Scholar Works Contributor Agreement
In order to make your work(s) openly available on the web via the RIT Scholar Works, you as a Contributor are asked to sign this RIT Scholar Works agreement, which:- confirms that you as the Contributor (or the copyright holder if different from the Contributor) shall retain all rights.
- grants Rochester Institute of Technology permission to distribute and to take the necessary steps to preserve your work.
By checking the box below, I, as the creator of scholarly content (“Contributor”), do hereby grant Rochester Institute of Technology permission to maintain and share copies of my original work(s) ("Submission") under the following terms and conditions:
COPYRIGHT:
No copyrights are transferred by this agreement, so I, as the Contributor, or the copyright holder if different from the Contributor, shall retain all rights. If I am not the copyright holder, I certify that permission has been obtained from the copyright holder(s) to make my Submission available online.
REPRESENTATION OF ORIGINAL AUTHORSHIP:
I represent and warrant that I am the original author of the Submission.
ACCESS AND USE: My Submission will be maintained in an open access online digital environment via the RIT Scholar Works. The Submission is intended for educational purposes only. Signing this document neither endorses nor authorizes the commercial use of my work in RIT Scholar Works by Rochester Institute of Technology or any other person or organization. Because materials on RIT Scholar Works are openly available online to anyone with internet access, I do not hold Rochester Institute of Technology responsible for third party use of my Submission. I agree that Rochester Institute of Technology may keep more than one copy of my Submission for preservation purposes, and may, without changing the content, translate the submission to any medium or format for the purpose of preservation.
WITHDRAWING WORKS:
RIT Scholar Works is designed to provide long-term , persistent access to deposited work and therefore, the removal of works is discouraged.
I understand that removal requests are handled on a case-by-case basis and although I may request the removal of an individual work that I have contributed to RIT Scholar Works, there is no guarantee that it will be removed. If a request is received from someone other than the author to withdraw a work, an embargo will be placed on the access to the work until a final determination is made.
FERPA WAIVER:
Students making submissions to the RIT Scholar Works agree to waive any privacy rights granted by FERPA or any other law, policy or regulation, for the purpose of making their work available on RIT Scholar Works.
TERM:
This agreement will remain in effect unless permission is withdrawn by Contributor via written request to RIT Libraries.
